Seasonal Forestry Technician:
Completing post harvest and inventory update cruises.
The timely collection of permanent growth plot data. May provide recommendations for future management and stand exams.
Provide assistance in field data collection projects, including basic tree measurements, tree and shrub species identification, downed wood measurements, crown closure measurements, and insect and disease identification.
Technical field experience required including compass & map reading, use of relascope and forestry field equipment.

W.M. Beaty & Associates, Inc. is seeking applicants to fill several forestry positions for the upcoming field season. Successful applicants will work jointly with District and Inventory Department Staffs on all aspects of field operations and/or timber inventory and gain exposure to forest management planning aspects for one of Northern California's longest standing forest management and consulting firms. W.M. Beaty & Associates, Inc., based in Redding California, manages 290,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified private forestland in Northeastern California for long-term clients and provides consulting services to other forestland owners and managers. The term of the positions is from approximately May 15th to November 15th. Appropriate equipment and transportation will be provided. These positions will be based out of Redding, Burney, or Susanville.
These foresters will be trained and gain valuable experience in the technical and professional aspects of timber harvesting plan and timber sale preparation, timber sale contract administration, and/or field and office aspects of timber inventory and harvest model implementation under the supervision of a Registered Professional Forester.
Candidates should possess, or have substantially completed a bachelor of science degree in forest management and have a career objective of becoming a California Registered Professional Forester. Familiarity with northern California tree species, basic mensuration and silvicultural principles, and a general knowledge of the California Forest Practice Rules is prerequisite. Two seasons of previous experience in a technical field forestry position is a minimum.
Salary will be competitive and based on qualifications and experience.
